My Collection was inspired by the rise in mens hair colouring this year. Men’s colouring is at its peak since the 80’s and early 90’s and I believe it is only going to get bigger. When I started working at the barber shops you just wouldn’t ask for colour if you were a guy. We didn't offer it as a service, and even the most audacious men weren’t brave enough to ask. I noticed this year that some guys started going to the salon down the road for a colour, then tramping down to me for a cut. And I thought, how strange.

My collection ‘Rebel Rebel’ was inspired by the late David Bowie. A fashion icon and musical legend, Bowie was the ultimate fashion rebel. He epitomised the belief that fashion is all about change. He constantly pushed the boundaries of fashion and his entire act symbolised rebellion. Bowie expressed himself through fashion and his hair. I wanted to embody the characteristics that Bowie expressed in my collection. 

I wanted to create something that was different and original. I named the collection ‘Rebel Rebel’ first and foremost after Bowie’s hit song, but also because the cuts themselves are rebellious in their own way. When a new look comes along that people aren’t used to then it is seen as rebellion, the art of being different but not doing anything necessarily bad. David Bowie’s hair frequently changed throughout different fashion movements and this inspired me to reflect a variety of styles in my collection.
